Sikhism considers spiritual life and secular life to be intertwined.Guru Nanak, the first Sikh Guru established the system of the Langar (communal kitchen), in order to demonstrate the need to share and have equality
between all people.
Sikhs also believe that “all religious traditions are equally valid and capable of enlightening their followers”.
In addition to sharing with others Guru Nanak inspired people to earn an honest living without exploitation and also the need for remembrance of the divine name (God).
Concept of God
The concept of God in Sikhism is symbolized
by “Ik Omkar”(one Creator). However Sikhs
believe that the Creator is all pervasive and
is the only truth, that all creation is illusory
and the route to enlightenment is the
realization that all creation is One.
Question: If God is in everything and
everything is in God then this would
point towards worship of the creation
as well as the creator?
All Religions Are A Route to God
Many Sikhs contend that Sikhism teaches
that all religions lead to God in the same
way that all rivers merge into a sea.
The Guru Granth Sahib is the holy book of
the Sikhs. It is only read by chosen individuals
who understand it and give it interpretation.
Concept of God
The Concept of God in Islam is very simple
and easy to grasp.
1.God is One, unique and distinct from His creation.
2.He is self-sufficient and controller of the entire
universe and the creation is dependent upon Him.
3.He was not born and he does not die, nor does he
bore any offspring.
4.Nothing resembles God and nothing can be
compared to Him.
Only One Religion Is Acceptable to God
All religions could not possibly be correct. Hindus
teach Pantheism and Polytheism, Christians promote
Trinity, Buddhists consider God irrelevant whereas
Islam teaches a strict focus on Monotheism.
All of these cannot be right at the same time just as
black cannot be white. Islam’s proposition of one
religion being acceptable before Allah is a self
Allah says “Truly, the only religion
acceptable to Allah is Islam.” [Qur’an (3:19)]
The Quran is the holy book of Islam which is the
written revelations given to the prophet
Muhammad. Anyone can access and read the Quran.
